Football in the MD - over in 2007!!!
Say it aint so! Football over in 2007 for the State of Maryland - your high tax headquarters in the U S of A (thanks MOM). Seems weird heading into the NFL playoffs
without the Ravens being in the mix - but yesterday's game showed a lot of folks some signs of things to come.
The Steelers can say what they want about not playing certain personnel. The Ravens list of ineligibles for the game was a large chunk of the regular starting lineup...ummm Ray Lewis MLB, Steve McNair QB, Kyle Boller QB, Todd Heap TE, Quinn Sypniewski TE, Daniel Wilcox TE, Trevor Pryce DE, Mike Anderson RB, Willis McGahee RB, Samari Rolle CB, Chris McAllister CB. DON'T kid yourselves PITT wanted that game and thought they had it in hand just by showing up.
Pitt really got pushed around at the line of scrimmage - because folks there wasn't any mystery to the play calling. Between the tackles the Ravens cracked off large chunks of running yards. It really appeared that Cory Ross became invisible behind JO and the crowd. Speaking of JO - helluva game! (JO = Jonathan Ogden). Musa Smith showed some great cutting moves and he, too, lopped off long gains against that vaulted ranked defense. Coach Tomlin - ummm you need to be worried. The Jax Jaguars are not slouches.
Troy Smith was almost perfect. A few misguided passes (fortunately not intercepeted), but the kid can play - AND HE DID. Great presence in the pocket in this one and those long gallops by a QB on 3rd down were a sight for sore eyes here in Bawlmer. This win definitely something to build on for the 2008 season.
Pittman and Martin played well and Cory Ivy had his game on also. In fact the secondary played well - take out the 59 yd TD (due to missed tackles) and PITT was flat like a pancake. AGAIN - they should be worried. Who cares if they're home - it's the playoffs baby!
NOTE - did anyone see the officials try to pull a Patriot game on the Ravens early on in the game. They called a penalty on the Steelers then forgot to move the ball into the negative. I believe that someone from up in the video booth called down and said "Fool, what are you doing?"
...nuff fooooooooooooooootball
reading some Charlie Huston right now. Shotgun Rules. Ck it out.
Stankass out....
